Spring Festival is coming!
February 18th, 2007 is the first day of China's Lunar New year, also known as the Spring Festival which is the most important festival in Chinese culture, big thing in every ordinary Chinese pepople's daily life. At this time of year, almost all Chinese people around the world, rich or poor, will try thier best to be gathering with family, enjoying the New Year Eve's dinner called "NIAN YE FAN" in Chinese language. The public transportation system faces the biggest challenge at this time of every year, it is estimated that there will be 155million people/times moving by air, bus or trian during this year's festival holiday. At this moment, home is the only direction.
Next year is the Year of the Pig. For those who has this zodiac symbol(born in about 1947,1959,1971,1983,1995... ), it is their "BEN MING NIAN"--year of their owns, according to Chinese tradition, they should have/wear something in red as an apotropaion to keep evil spirits away. These red things include red underwear, red waist band, red scarf, red socks or red clothes...
In Fuping, the market of all kinds of festival goods is very busy now, especially for such stalls rare available in ordinary days like couplets calligraphy and fireworks. Here we would like to wish everyone who has or will come to Fuping and those who are browsing this website a PEACE year of the pig!

Along with the new year, a new group of 3-D drawings of FLICAM unfolded in front of us describe how it will look like in future, let's share this vision feast.
It is Christmas now, although it is not a traditional Chinese festival, in Pottery Art Village we decorated the hotel to make a happy atmosphere. Here is some photos:

Some pilots from Congo visited FLICAM before Christmas, when looking at the work named "Make Love Not War" made by Marianne Hallberg, they recognised the song named "One Love" which is from Africa and this work therefore resonates them:

June 1st is the International Children's Day, a group of pupils from local primary school came to the Pottery Art Village to visit the interesting museums and then they took part in the competition of clay-making which makes them know that not only does the clay belong to the artists but also to the ordinary people--you can do it if you love it! Their curiosity on the art works and the interests in the clay tell us "the master-to-be" in the future could be among them? Here can we see some of their "works" :

In May 18th,2006, the American & Chinese Ceramic Art Professional Exchange, a team of 13people, visited PAV. All the members were shocked by the overwelming collection of the museum and the beautiful architetures, the most attractive is probably the idea of building such a platform for the artists from all over the world to make their artworks freely, especially for the works inspired by the local culture atmosphere. So,they all expressed the wishes to come to Fuping for the residency program.(click here to see the details of the program)
Here below is some of the pictures recording their activities during the one-day visit:
